Belize City
This colonial city is both the commercial and geographic center of the country of Belize. All major highways lead into and out of the city and provide access to the rainforests, archeological sites and other natural inland and offshore attractions. The city is an excellent home base for excursions to the Barrier Reef Islands, SCUBA diving and a wide variety of tours. The latest additions to the City’s attractions are the Museum of Belize and the Fort Street Tourist Village.

Cayo District
The Cayo area is approximately 65 miles west of Belize City. The landscape changes into hilly jungle and farmland near San Ignacio, a lively town on the Macal River. In this part of Belize, you will find a dramatic mix of mountains, waterfalls, caves, jungles, wildlife and archeological sites. Over 45% of the Cayo District has been set aside as either a Wildlife Sanctuary, National Park, or Forest Reserve and is a wonderful hub for horseback riding, hiking and canoeing. There are many wonderful hotels in the Cayo district.<

Northern Belize
Corozal and Orange Walk are districts (states) situated on the New River and Northern Highway. They are located north of Belize City. Both towns are a mix of Spanish, Maya, East Indians, visiting Mennonites and Chinese. Spanish and Creole are the most common languages spoken. The area’s economies are primarily dependent on the seasonal harvesting and processing of sugar cane.

Offshore Destinations
The remote destinations in Belize are filled with beautiful sites that capture the attention of nature lovers and divers alike. Even though some of these properties are off the beaten track, they are not inaccessible. Most are less than an hour away by air.

Southern Belize
Less than an hour from Belize City (by air), southern Belize is a world away from life’s hustle and bustle. This area is still relatively undeveloped, and as a result, the area has a wealth of natural resources, including the first and only Jaguar Reserve in the world, making it a tourist “hot spot”. Make no mistake about it, southern Belize is blessed with sandy beaches and turquoise water, making it a hub for all types of attractions and activities.

Flores, Guatemala
Tikal, located in Flores, Guatemala, has been hailed as one of the most spiritually powerful spots on earth. The site, with its towering Mayan pyramids, is regarded as one of the most important cultural and natural reserves in the world. The park encompasses 222 square miles of thick, tropical jungle in the Petén. Tikal is an hour and a half drive west of the Belizean border at Benque Viejo del Carmen or a short flight from Belize City to the Flores airport, plus an hour’s drive through the countryside to the national park.

Ambergris Caye
Fifteen minutes by air from Belize City, this charming Caribbean island has a 25-mile shoreline. Sun drenched beaches run almost parallel to the famous Barrier Reef, less than half a mile off shore. On the island you will find a variety of restaurants, shops and entertainment. Visitors are invited to slip off their shoes and let their worries drift away with the tide. Enjoy diving, snorkeling, sailing, fishing, wind surfing, and sun bathing. Day trips are available to the mainland from the island.

Caye Caulker
Caye Caulker is a small limestone coral island off the coast of Belize in the Caribbean Sea measuring about 5 miles (north to south) by less than 1 mile (east to west). The settlement on the island is known as Caye Caulker Village. The island is basically a sand bar over a limestone shelf. Underwater caves are found in the limestone (which have claimed the lives of several scuba divers exploring them). If you are planning to stay on Caye Caulker during your Belize Vacation, we highly recommend one of the hotels listed below.
